We want QYPR to work for every recruit and every recruiter, including those using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.
Standard we aim for
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The site was built against that standard but has not yet had a formal third-party audit, so we describe it as partially conformant until one is complete.
What we have done
Semantic landmarks and a logical heading order on every page.
A “skip to main content” link as the first focusable element.
Visible high-contrast focus rings on every interactive element.
Full keyboard operability, including the mobile menu — Escape closes it and returns focus to the button that opened it.
Decorative background video marked aria-hidden; meaningful video carries a descriptive label.
All background video is muted, loops silently, and carries a poster image, so nothing auto-plays audio.
Full support for prefers-reduced-motion: parallax, scroll reveals, floating cards, and counter animations all stop.
Content is never stranded by a JavaScript failure — scroll-revealed sections restore to fully visible without it.
Text reflows without horizontal scrolling to 320px and survives 200% zoom.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than pretend they do not exist:
Ambient background video. Motion behind some sections can be distracting. It respects reduced-motion, but there is no in-page toggle yet.
The landing map is a placeholder. The graphic is decorative and labelled; the real map will need an accessible list view of the same stations as an equivalent alternative.
No formal audit yet. Scheduled before public launch.
Tell us about a barrier
If something here blocked you, we want to know. Please include the page, what you were trying to do, and your browser and assistive technology.
Email accessibility@qypr.org. We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and to fix or offer a workable alternative within 15 business days.
If our response does not resolve it, US users may contact the Department of Justice ADA Information Line, and UK users the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
